On my podcast, The Self-Employed Success Podcast, I share a personal story about a speaking engagement I was invited to attend at a local university. Being a member of my Chamber of Commerce, I knew that networking would be a key part of the experience, and I'm so glad I made the effort to connect with the attendees before and after my talk. It turns out, they were the decision-makers in the room, and through engaging with them and asking questions, I was able to gain valuable contacts, resources, and the motivation to pursue a new career as an Adjunct Professor. All of this was possible because I took the time to network.
If you're self-employed, you know how important it is to network. It's one of the best ways to drum up business and get referrals.
But if you're like me, you may have put off building a professional network for years because it never seemed very appealing or fun. Well, let me tell you: networking can be fun and rewarding! And after years of doing it myself, I've discovered some key ways that make it easier to connect with people who are interested in helping each other out professionally (which is why we do this stuff in the first place).
